Gilbert Noël, the firm’s lead Mauritius practitioner, is a senior attorney and financial consultant with over 25 years of experience in the financial services sector and general business sector. He practices in areas of company, corporate financial services law and also in litigation, representing clients in some of the most complex transactions and commercial disputes before the Supreme Court of Mauritius.In 2003, Gilbert became the adviser to the Minister of Financial Services and Corporate Affairs. He was involved in the preparation and drafting of relevant legislation.
- Gilbert holds a law degree from the University of London and is professionally qualified as an attorney in the Republic of Mauritius. After graduating from Brigham Young University in the United States, Gilbert trained as a financial analyst at Merrill Lynch in 1993.
- He is a Council member of the Mauritius Law Society (March 2016-March 2018) where he acted as its secretary, and Board member of the Mauritius Law Reform Commission whereby he chairs the advisory committee on financial services services.
- Lecturer on Company Law to prospective attorneys, barristers and notaries at the Council of Vocational and Legal Education.
